João Alves (Portugal), a surrealist painter, with a diverse practice spanning over two decades, is known for his dream-like, uncanny imagery, alongside his work in curation, film, and performance art. In 2004 João performed in the painting short film/documentaty ‘Gaia’ directed by Amarante Abramovici, selcted for the Cannes Film Festival.
Since 2028 João’s work and paitings are are present in the Porto City collection, ZDB Gallery, CJIAC and the Serralves Museum among other private collections in Portugal, Spain, France, Germany and the UK.
